The Veil

Y’all. We’re back for a Tip Tuesday today and it’s plain and simple. Today’s post is all about your veil. It’s the most beautiful detail that you can purchase for your wedding day. Fo’ real!

The Veil

Y’all. We’re back for a Tip Tuesday today and it’s plain and simple. Today’s post is all about your veil. It’s the most beautiful detail that you can purchase for your wedding day. Fo’ real! From handmade, to sentimental, to just the right amount of bling, we love them all. So let’s break it down.

The Background

On our wedding day, Tia couldn’t have ran farther from a veil. Which is quite hilarious now because at the first sight of that gauzy fabric on the wedding day, she runs towards it. But, on our day, we were planning something that was uniquely us, and at the time, the veil felt only like something Tia was “supposed” to wear. It felt like an antiquated tradition and we were not about that life. The whole history of wedding veils tells us that, in ancient times, the Greeks used it as a way of protecting the bride from evil spirits, while in Medieval times it was worn as a symbol of purity and chastity. And we didn’t have any evil spirits hanging around our day, so the Goff Wedding was veil-less.

Our Transformation

As we started preparing to shoot our first wedding, we all of a sudden were bombarded with the dreamiest, ethereal images that were brought to you by The Veil. We realized that the bridal covering today isn’t being used to conceal the bride before she meets her groom at the end of the aisle. Instead, it’s just an insanely gorgeous accessory for the day. And while many of our photographs focus on the joy of the day, romance and showcasing that alive feeling is also super important to us, and a veil helps us get that job done. I mean, look at that image above. Does that not scream “ROMANTIC, JOYFUL, ALIVE” or what?!

How To: Veils

We’ve seen our brides rock this must-need accessory an assortment of ways. Some go full-out and wear their veil all day, or at least until the reception begins. This gives these ladies a continuous romantic-vibe all day. Other ladies, who are not dead set on a veil, will just bring it out with us for sunset portraits. Then, we can use the veil as a prop, but they’re bridal look isn’t dependent on the veil. There are tons of options from veil on for just fifteen minutes to an all-day veil look. You choose, it’s your day!

How To: Veils Part II

Finally, here’s the fun part. The act of getting these dreamy shots is almost as good as the final product. We will wrap it around you, drape it over the grooms head, and balance it on our lens. All the while, looking ridiculous and hopefully getting a few laughs out of you. But, there is a moment almost guaranteed during our veil wrapping/draping/balancing madness. The moment is when you and your now-pronounced hubby are covered underneath your canopy of white, feeling like you’re totally in your own bubble (when you’re totally not as we are creeping with our camera a foot away, but still, it feels that way). All of sudden, it sets in. Finally, you are staring into the eyes of the man of your dreams nuzzling noses and you realize, you’re married! Eeeeekkk! And THAT, is our favorite part of veils.
