Hello, I’m Tia, and today I am breaking down a TikTok tutorial for you called, TikTok for dummies in 2022! If you are a beginner to TikTok, I am showing you everything you need to know to understand the app and be able to post your first video. Let’s jump right into it!

Walk Through of TikTok

So before we hop into TikTok for dummies in 2022 on how to post your first video, I’m going to show you a quick walk through of how TikTok works.

Now, there are two main feeds on TikTok. The first is the “for you page”. This is a timeline of customized videos that TikTok things that you’re going to like. You can scroll through and this will include some people you follow, a lot of people you don’t, and just kind of a customized videos for you.

You can also click on “following”. Following is only going to show you videos of people you follow. So you can scroll through, sometimes it shows you their most recents, sometimes it shows you videos from a long time ago. That’s the same thing with the for you page, it’s not chronological.

The other features are down here on the bottom. So you can go to friends, and these are all of the people that you follow, and that they follow back. Some will also be from your contacts so it’s a combination of your actual friends.

Down below is where you create videos, with this plus sign. In the inbox, this will show you any of your notifications. So it will show you people you follows’ stories, it will show you new followers, likes, anything like that.

If you go to your profile, this is where you will find not only your profile, but it will also show you all of the videos you posted, and this is the easiest way to get to your drafts. So your drafts are in here with any of the videos that you’re shared and not posted.

Now It’s Time To Post

We can hit the plus sign. The easiest way to post, you can see me with my tripod, is if I hold down like this, I’m recording. That recorded that little section there. Then I can record another section, and then I can let go and it will stop. And then I can do one more.

Then when I go to the next screen, I’m going to have a lot more options. Here, there are a couple of options for while recording like using a filter and things like that. But I’m going to click next, and it brings me to this section. From here, I can choose all kinds of effects, filters, etc. For example, I can go to adjust clips, and this will show me my first clip, my second clip, and my third clip. From there, I can cut this down by dragging this, I can go add sound and then I can select a song, and then I could hold down on this and bring it to the beginning because I want it to start from the beginning. 

So there are a lot of capabilities that you can do to edit right in TikTok. 

I’m then going to hit save, because I like the way that it is. I can also add text, so i can type on the screen, “what’s up guys” and press done. Then I can click that text and set the duration to be just at the beginning. When I decide I’m going to post, I’m going to go next and it’s going to bring me to this screen.

Posting Your Vid

This is the posting screen. So from there, I can go select a cover and maybe I want this black part to be my cover. Then I can add a title and it’s going to say, “my first video” and it’s going to show up on my profile. So I click done and then save. 

Then I can add a caption here, I can also add hashtags, I can tag people, I can add a location, all of the things. When I decide I want to post, I literally just click post right there. Easy peasy, you have just posted you first TikTok video!
