We’ve got something exciting brewing here at Cameron & Tia Photography, and it all started with a jaw-dropping DM – shoutout to Sarah for sparking this brilliant idea! The burning question we couldn’t resist pondering: What would we do if we were kicking off our photography business from scratch and starting over in the wild and wonderful year of 2024? Brace yourselves, because this week’s video spills all the tea on our game plan – the do’s, the don’ts, and everything in between. Don’t miss out!
First Thing’s First: SAVE!
Let’s talk moolah, because, let’s face it, every great endeavor needs a solid financial foundation. We’d kick things off by squirreling away about $10,000 – a smart move that allows us to make strategic investments in our photography venture.
Now, where would that moolah go, you ask? Gear! We’re unabashed Canon enthusiasts, so our $10,000 would be earmarked for a top-tier main body and a trusty backup body that’s a couple of steps down the hierarchy. Add a 50mm and an 85mm prime lens into the mix, and you’ve got yourself a winning gear system. Oh, and let’s not forget the secret sauce – a client management system. Enter Honeybook! From correspondence to contracts, file-sharing to payment collection, it’s a one-stop-shop for us and our amazing clients. Plus, the ease of use? Game-changer.
But that’s not all – our investment spree continues with a gallery delivery system. We swear by Pic-Time for its stunning visuals and seamless functionality. Not only does it make our clients’ experience unforgettable, but it also opens up new avenues for revenue through print sales. Cha-ching!
Next Up: Shoot, Shoot, Shoot! 📷
Practice makes perfect, and in our hypothetical restart, we’re all about soaking up as much experience as humanly possible. Seniors, families, wedding assists – you name it, we’re shooting it. Variety is the spice of life, right? Different seniors, diverse families – we’re capturing the spectrum, from sporty to feminine, boys to girls.
Why spread out shoots when you can make the most of your time? Efficiency is key, and we’re diving headfirst into different lighting scenarios, experimenting with editing styles, and perfecting our craft across various shoots. It’s a crash course in photography excellence, and we’re loving every click of the shutter.
Finally: The Marketing Magic! 🚀
Last but certainly not least, we’d focus our precious time on two to three marketing strategies. It’s not worthwhile to invest in 10-12 marketing basket and put only one egg in each basket. Instead, we’d recommend honing in on just a couple of key strategies, allowing us to put all of our eggs in those baskets. This focused approach not only helps us fine-tune our marketing efforts but also maximizes the impact of our time and resources.
So there you have it, folks – our hypothetical journey into the unknowns of starting a photography business in 2024. If you’re just embarking on this thrilling adventure, we hope our insights and experiences serve as a guiding light. Thank you so much, Sarah, for sending us that DM!
