Relax & Unwind with a Bit of Self-Care
Planning a wedding is stressful and we know that your mind is probably filled with so many different checklists. Wedding dresses, cufflinks, invitations, floral arrangements… there’s SO much to think about. So for today we’re going to press pause and share some tips to stop thinking and relax. It’s time to take care of yourself!
What Is Self-Care?
To start, know that self care is literally anything you choose to deliberately and purposefully do in order to take care of your emotional, mental and physical health. You may have seen tons of people posting about their own self-care regime lately because it’s becoming so popular to truly take time for yourself. So know that there are a variety of things you can do! Here are just some of our favorites.
Taking Care of Each Other
Yes, self-care can involve your fiance! You don’t have to shut them out. In fact, it’s probably better that you do it together so you can both get your minds off wedding planning for a little bit.
Go out to dinner and have a date night with one rule: no talking about the wedding! Plus, the Twin Cities is FULL of amazing restaurants to choose from. A restaurant we love is an Italian restaurant called, Pazzaluna in St. Paul. It even has a little bar you can sit at and watch the chefs cook. The perfect distraction from any wedding planning!
If dinner isn’t your thing or you couldn’t imagine sitting at a table and not talk about your wedding try a movie or show! Minneapolis is home to tons of theaters for shows, musicals or concerts. Or just check out any ol’ movie theater and watch the next top box office showing!
If you all of this sounds too fancy or like too much work, dial it back and do something simple like walking your pup. We LOVE spending time with our dog, Bella. Believe it or not, dogs can reduce your stress. So spend an afternoon or evening on a longer dog walk and then stop by a park to play with your beloved pup, Bella.
All in all, remember that you’re still in this together so take care of each other.
Taking Care of Yourself
Of course, you also need a little “me-time” and that’s 100% okay too! Here are some activities that are great when you’re flying solo.
Pamper yourself and have a spa-day. This doesn’t mean you have to spend hundreds of dollars going to the 5-star spa! You can do it at home. Run a bath, light some candles, and put on a facemask (not the one that peels off your skin though!!). Self-care can be anything you deliberately do to relax, so if a bath isn’t your thing then bake or do crafts, maybe go on a run! You’re in control and you get to decide what’s the best option for taking care of yourself!
While we hope you’re busy with wedding plans and getting everything in order, we want to remind you to press pause and relax. You deserve to take a quick break!
