We’re here visiting our two friends (and their sweet pup) and showing us around their home while we try new foods, stroll through quaint towns, and experience the city life of Amsterdam!
Day 1 – Baarn
WOW, where do we start?
We started off our trip before take-off at our favorite smoothie place, Joe and the Juice. We had a direct, overnight flight from Minneapolis to Amsterdam, so we settled into our seats and got ready for sleep! After landing in Amsterdam in the morning, we were were picked up by our friend Zach.
Our friends Zach and Solveig, and their sweet pup Cactus, greeted us at their home in Baarn. They have the most adorable home and Baarn is the cutest little town. We spent the day walking around, stopping at the grocery store for snacks, explored, and stopped for pancakes! It was a super fun first day, exploring our friends home.
Day 2 – Utrecht
Jet-lag is real! We slept all night but were hopeful that for day 2, we’re back on the right timezone.
We took a day trip to Utrecht where we did more exploring, walked around the beautiful canals and saw all of the cute houses. One of our stolls led us to where Solveig went to grad school! Then we played games, drank, and had more fun snacks!
After meeting up with Solveig, we had went for dinner and got burgers and fries. The place we went to was similar to First Draft in Minneapolis where you could pour your own beer and wine! After dinner, we went to a super vibey terrace for drinks and then hopped back on the train to Baarn.
Day 3 – Keukenhof
Day three of our Netherlands vlog, we all took a drive to Keukenhof. Keukenhof is a big tulip park that is in full bloom! None of us had seen it before, so we were super excited to take this trip together. Even Cactus got to come along with us today!
When we arrived, we saw massive fields of tulips of all possible colors, there were food trucks with smoothies, french fries, and waffles and we loved every second of it! On the drive home, we found fields upon fields of tulips so we stopped to explore. It was so amazing.
We arrived back in Baarn, grabbed dinner, and spent quality time with our friends.
Day 4 – Cam’s Birthday!
On this fourth day, the most special day, we took a train into Amsterdam to finally explore! We flew into Amsterdam but spent all of our times in the cities around, so we were excited to explore. Our first stop, our favorite, Joe and the Juice and walking around checking out all the markets!
Next stop, we went to the Heineken experience! It was a super interactive and immersive experience touring the Heineken brewery and super fun. We then grabbed some snacks, like some “Cool American Flavor” Doritos (cool ranch is cool American!), and hopped on a canal boat tour!
Our last stop of the day was a famous square that you see in every tourist book telling you to come see, and we spent time with our friends chatting over snacks and drinks.
Day 5 – Maarn
Our final day in the Netherlands, we took it super easy in the morning. They used to live in another town, Maarn, so we hopped in the car to visit! Their family friend’s restaurant was one of our stops, then we stopped at a super cool park, set up the drone and got some footage of this beautiful area.
The drive home was so beautiful. We got some pizza and ice cream, and sat outside with our friends enjoying our last night with them in the Netherlands.
We loved every second of visiting this beautiful country! While we’re sad to leave, we’re excited for our next stop on our Europe tour. Thanks for tuning into our Netherlands vlog, stay tuned to see where we’ll be next!
