Next up on our travel vlog is Gothenburg, Sweden and Oslo, Norway. These two were our shortest stops of our trip so we thought they made sense together, but they are SO different! Tune in to see our thoughts on these two Scandinavian countries!
Gothenburg, Sweden
We started out our Gothenburg trip a little rocky when we miss our train by less than a minute!!! But luckily we got on another train, and 3 and a half hours later we made it to Gothenburg!
Right away when getting off the train and stepping into Gothenburg, our first thoughts were that public transportation in Gothenburg seems insane in the best way. Our first night walking to dinner, we only saw like three cars driving on the roads. The roads themselves don’t have any crosswalks or anything. They’re mostly designed for trams or metros.
Traveling can be exhausting, so when we got to Gothenburg our goal was to find some yummy food, get to our hotel, and start again tomorrow!
Full Day in Gothenburg
Starting off our first full day in Gothenburg, we got our FAV – Joe and the Juice! It was in a super cute little mall and a great way to start our morning. We then explored a huge garden area – it had rose gardens and greenhouses and everything!
We continued walking around and exploring and of course stopped for snacks. Cam LOVES dill pickle chips, so we bought a bag of what looked like dill pickle chips – turns out it translates to brown butter and dill. Not a win for us on that one because they were exceptionally buttery LOL.
Made it to Oslo
Our next stop for our travel vlog after Gothenburg, is Oslo! Our Airbnb was in a super fun area called Bjorvika. The Airbnb itself is someone’s apartment and kind of on a barge area. We settled in and then made our way to find ramen!
Cam’s rating of the ramen was 8/10 – such good food, the ramen was great, gyoza was great, they just forgot about Cam’s food for a while. But that’s okay, it was still great! We absolutely love to get ramen on all of our trips.
Another opportunity that we can never pass up on our trips is GELATO! We like to say we’re just prepping ourselves for Italy. On our honeymoon in Italy, we got gelato every other day, if not every single day so we’re excited to get there next (I’m saving the pistachio gelato just for Italy).
Day in Oslo
We had a packed day exploring in Oslo, which started out with an art museum. The first gallery we saw was definitely a little scary and gory, but the others were super interesting!
Walking around and checking out the views here in Oslo is our favorite. From the art gallery, you can see our Airbnb, where we got donuts, the ramen place, and just some spectacular views.
If you haven’t seen our Copenhagen vlog yet, go check it out and watch us climb a tower that was super spooky. In this museum right now in Oslo, we kind of feel the same way! This one is totally enclosed – it’s just at a slant and we’re far away from the edge but it’s still a little sketchy.
Next stop on our travel vlog, we’re going to the roof of the opera house! We got some amazing skyline views of Oslo.
Afternoon in Oslo
After enduring the heights of Oslo, we stopped for some lunch and got tacos and burritos! They made the tortillas fresh right in front of us at the table and they were AMAZING. We are also obsessed with Jarritos (the best flavor is pineapple, for sure!) so we had to grab one.
After lunch, we walked around trying to figure out how to get on a ferry out to the islands. We heard that they had saunas on the bay, where you can go into the saunas and then jump in the water – which is FREEZING.
After some minor chaos (speed walking to the correct spot), we made it on the ferry and headed out to the islands! We got off on one of the islands and just explored for an hour until we had to get back to the ferry. We walked around the water, fed some fish, and caught a glimpse of the scandinavian life.
Wrapping up our afternoon on the water, we found some boba and relaxed!
Final Thoughts from Cam & Tia
Our final thoughts of our Oslo trip were that we loved the place we stayed, it was super cool and there were lots of stuff around. The location was just amazing. We loved the architecture of Oslo paired with the modern vibes, and taking the ferry out to the islands and feeding the fishies.
