Nikki + Evan’s Alaska Engagement Session

We were so pumped to join Nikki & Evan in Girdwood, Alaska for their destination engagement session. They currently call Alaska home so this was so special to photograph them there.

Girdwood, Alaska Destination Engagement Session

This Girdwood, Alaska engagement session is one for the books. You are not going to want to miss this! Get ready for mountain views, gorgeous valleys, flower fields, and vast bays.

Cam and I went to high school with Nikki and so when she reached out about photographing her wedding, we were already over the moon. This girl is fiery, funny, and just the best. We couldn’t wait to meet her fiance. But then, we started talking about traveling up to them in Alaska for their engagement, and we didn’t think things could get better. These two have been calling Alaska home and were so excited to document this season in their lives where they live. So we planned a trip for last July.

I had been once to Alaska as a teenager and literally say it’s my favorite state (it was also my 50th state)! So I was so excited to take Cam. We went up there a few days early and the highlight was definitely a glacier tour by boat where we saw puffins and whales!

For Nikki & Evan’s shoot, we split an Airbnb with them (as they live in Fairbanks) as we do with most destination engagement sessions. It was the cutest place in Girdwood that Nikki found. We split their shoot up to two days but since it was July in Alaska and the sun didn’t set until super late, both nights we didn’t start our shoots until 10 pm. We had so much fun getting to know them and can’t wait for their September Almquist Farm shoot! The last time we were at Almquist was in the winter, so we can’t wait to shoot a beautiful, breezy fall day there!
