A Destination Wedding for the Books

The day before their destination wedding, Jon captioned his instagram, “Today we’re busy setting up for our wedding and it has me thinking about how Brett and I have strengthened our relationship more with sweat and hard work than anything else. We’ve had ups and downs. We’ve sometimes struggled a bit. But we’ve always been committed to working our way through problems. And that kind of commitment is what marriage is about after all. In the last couple weeks it has been incredible to see so many members of our family come together to make this DIY wedding possible. I’m lucky to have two amazing families who have helped with this wedding. My hope is that working together has brought all of them together in the same way it has for Brett and I.”

Teamwork makes the Dream Work

And nothing could be more true. After a stunning first look in the forest, Brett and Jon hoped on a pontoon to cross Lake Coeur d’Alene for their destination wedding. On the other side, they arrived to their lakeside cabin venue. Not only did they step onto the dock greeted by a rush of family members, but after a quick greeting, those family members were right back to work. They were busy putting care and attention into each and every piece of this intimate wedding, pouring their heart and souls into making this wedding all that Brett and Jon had dreamed of.

And the fun thing is that we even got to experience part of the prepping process, from setting up the ceremony arch to helping create the bridal bouquet and centerpieces. We know that as the night wound down, each and every family member felt collective pride over what a beautiful day it had been because of the work that had been put in.

A Perfect Lakeside Intimate Wedding

Brett and Jon are everything we aspire to be. Humble about their amazing life experiences. Patient when working through conflicts together. Adventurous and always craving something new. And a perfect balance of everything else – squished together like peanut butter and jelly. They are the type of people who you can truly be yourself around. And their wedding day felt just like that with an authentic ceremony on the lake, sweet toasts with no frill, and a surprise song and video that Brett put together for Jon.
