Today, we are showing you how to add text into your TikTok video, how to use the text boxes, how to use the overlay feature, and how to time them out how you would like! We have a ton of info for you, so stick around!

Let’s jump in to the tutorial on how to add text into your TikTok video! First, pull up a previous video. For this example, I’m going to be using a video of Lake Como, Italy. I’m going to hit next and click the text button where you can write whatever you like. I’m going to type of “Lake Como, Italy”, select the background and select done.

For our purposes, I’m going to take down the volume and not add a sound so it’s not distracting for this video.

I’m also going to add “Welcome” and I want it in handwriting and in blue. So then, I can drag and place texts where I like. I can also make it bigger and it will help you center as well.

Timing out the Text

I want “Welcome” to pop up first, so I’m going to click on “Welcome” and set duration, and then I’m going to drag along the bottom. Where it’s red is going to be where “Welcome” is visible. Where it’s white, if I press play, “Welcome” will disappear.

When “Lake Como” is transparent like that, it means that I’m not currently editing it. So I can click on it and make it appear where I want it to in the video. I want it to appear right after “Welcome”. So you can see, “Welcome” appears and then I’m going to time it right after “Welcome” appears and then I’ll have it stop shortly after.

You can see in the video, it’s panning and then it will show “Welcome” first and then “Lake Como” appears right after.

Adding and Placing more Text

Next, I want to add “the most beautiful place”.

I’m going to press the “A” button, which is how I get a border, how I get a backdrop, and that’s also how I get it transparent. I’m going to make the text pretty big and center it out.

Then, I’m going to hit set duration. I want it to appear after Lake Como is gone, so you can see where it ends, so I started it there and I want it to stay the entire time.

I want to actually make it say Welcome “to” Lake Como, Italy so I’m going to add “to” and then time it a little after “Welcome” comes up, press the check, and it’s all ready to go!
