The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is the crème-of-the-crop of nature locations. “The Arb” has fountains, gardens, a trellis, hedge paths, and mini waterfalls. We can also drive around a 5-mile-drive to spend time in a boho, wild open field. Unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed at the Arb, but we can drive 10 minutes to Carver Park Reserve at the end to finish your session with your pup.

Hansen Tree Farm is a cute little tree farm that offers tons of photo ops. Though it is a great spot for all year, we love to use it in the winter and early spring (before everything turns green elsewhere) because it has pops of color with the pine trees. Snow atop the trees is especially beautiful and there are fire pits, wreaths, other holiday things during the winter. There is a $100 permit fee instituted by Hansen - it's gorgeous and in high demand, so they charge a fee for usage.

We love Lake Harriet because you get the vibes of the Uptown Lakes without the business of Lake Calhoun. You also get the beautiful white bandshell and a dock going out to the lake that frames the sunset and bandshell perfectly. A great option to pair with Lyndale Park or do by itself.
